Last minute plans

Taking the opportunity of a last minute cancellation to spend the weekend in the Highlands is one of the joys of living here. Here is how it unfolded...

Saturday morning-
06:45...wake up
07:19...catch the train
08:20...catch the next train
11:20...step off the train at Corrour and to this...

A late lunch atop Carn Dearg and a view of the path to Sgor Gaibhre...

An absolutely fantastic dinner and a comfortable sleep. Splendid quiet. After a delicious breakfast, it was time to explore the hill on the other side of the loch.

After about an hour, the perspective is breathtaking.

My starting point was the buildings near the loch in the bottom left of the photo. If you look closely, you can spot the train in the lower right.

On to the cairn on Beinn na Lap - watch out for frogs!

A few Ptarmigans joined me along the way...

Up and over the top, next destination are the lochans pictured here. Although I did not spot them, it was easy to follow the calls of the geese enjoying a paddle.

And back to the train station to catch the 18:30 train to Glasgow. Back home around 22:00. What a weekend. What a place.
