In Bloom

The hills are alive...with the colours of wildflowers. Wild orchids, cotton grass, sea pinks, heath milkwort, campion, and much more. The bracken is now as tall as I am. For me, it is a bit of a disappointment when this occurs and I generally steer clear of it. I love ferns but I don't want to spend 7 hours staring at ferns.

These pictures are from two recent trips to the Arrochar area.

The cobbler is a popular walk and worthy of that popularity...

Very different from the snow topped, auburn colouring just a few months ago...

On an unrelated note, I continue to have evening visits by friend Herman.

For those who have not heard the story...most evenings this duck will appear walking along my window ledge, peer in at me as I sit on the sofa, sometimes stay for awhile. He doesn't mind if I get right up to the window. I noticed that sometimes he seems to settle in for a wee nap, or at least keeps his eyes closed for awhile. I am not feeding him. I still giggle each time he appears. Just so unexpected to be sitting on the sofa in a flat, stories above the ground, and to have a duck walk in front of your windows. I have been feeling some loneliness as of late. Maybe Herman senses that. It certainly is the most convenient and comfortable bird watching I have ever experienced.
