Dreaming of snow

It was a wee bit of a rough weekend for me due to feeling unwell and quite warm temperatures. Not at all up to my expectations of the weekend. Still so happy to have gone out. The people and views were brilliant. Those will be my lasting memories.

The original plan was to walk both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was the south Glen Shiel range. A string of munros linked by a very walkable ridge. I had hoped to do at least 7, possibly 8, with a back-up plan of descending back to the road from the 4th munro. Even after struggling with the climb up the first munro, I was thinking of doing the full stretch. Here is the cairn on the 2nd munro, Druim Shionnach.

My friend is much more fit than I am. But on this day, he had a ridiculous amount of time to ponder the view while he was with me.

By the 3rd munro Aonach air Chrith, I knew I was descending at the 4th munro. I just didn't have the energy to do the full ridge on this day. Maybe another time.

The view along the ridge is breathtaking. Hills in all directions.

Wherever I have been hillwalking (in any country), folks are friendly in the hills. I love that. Especially on unusually hot days like this weekend, folks watch out for each other. A man and I split from the group carrying on along the ridge and walked down to the road. Even then, the walk back along the road was some of the longest 4km I have walked.

The next day I chose to not walk. Can you spot my friend...there really is an orange pack in this picture....

Instead I sat here (and took a few wee dips in the Loch Cluanie) instead.

Time for bed and hope to feel better in the morning. Sweet dreams.
