How did I do?

After 10 months, what possessions do I miss? I like to think I came pretty light (and I offer up the amount of my stuff that has taken over portions of my parents house as evidence). My deciding factors of what to bring...
  • What would I use most here and be the most expensive to replace? Sleeping bag, base set of clothes, camera gear, etc.
  • What has sentimental value and would make me feel at home? Photos, gifts, blanket crocheted by my mum, etc.
  • What might be hard to find in a new country? Deodorant, favourite soap, etc. - turns out I should have added screwdriver but after zigzagging the city for two days, I managed to locate one.
  • What would easily fit into my bag that has convenience value? Dish towels, kitchen utensils, bath mat, etc.

What do I miss? Not much. (My stuff may start appearing on Craigslist with that comment). There are a few items.

The top of the list...my sewing machine. I enjoy sewing and it is just one of those items that is useful to have around. To hem/mend. To make lederhosen. To make clothing and useful items.

My vacuum is next on the list. yes, they have them here. I just have been too cheap to buy one (I have all floors but I still miss it).

A few pairs of my favourite shoes.

There are certainly items dear to my heart back home that if I had to choose, I would not want to part with permanently. I would bring them here over giving them up.

I have bought a few things but not much- like a few clothes for work, books, some dishes, a few small pieces of furniture, and some plants. Oh, and a screwdriver.

As I take stock, I am a wee bit shocked. I think I did well. Or have I just adjusted to be happy with the items I do have? Could I have brought less and not noticed? Probably.
