Basking in the sun

Prepare to get sleepy. Today was glorious. Another day of exploration in Shetland. It is a good thing I prefer lounging in the heather. Because all the rock ledges were already taken. This place makes my heart sing.

The seals seemed intoxicated with the warmth. So much so that I was able to spend hours observing them without disturbance. What gorgeous creatures.

Sleepy yet? Honestly watching them flopped everywhere, I found myself wanting to join in on the siesta. While some were in a deep sleep, others gave a quick check every minute or so. I was noticed. They have very good eyesight. Thankfully they did not see me as a threat.

I passed this particular seal early in the afternoon.

Hours later, the seal was still enjoying its spot as the sun began to set...and the tide was coming in. The light was not as good but I couldn't resist snapping a few as it stretched.
