Meeting the neighbours

My home at the moment. An otter family went swimming by a few evenings ago. Spotting them was a challenge as it was a particularly dark afternoon. This weekend I may be found hiding behind a rock for hours to spy on my neighbors (of the marine variety).

Waking up and looking out over the field to see the sheep nestled into grass hills makes me smile. During the day, they drift by the window, trimming the grass and letting their voices be heard. I can't figure out why they will suddenly let out a 'baa'. Quiet evenings their callouts will echo across the hills.

There is usually at least one seal lounging about on a rock, playfully leaping about, or gliding along the shoreline. When I am out at night staring at the stars and moon, I can hear them in the water.

Had some trouble focusing in the low light....next time maybe a video to capture the seal leaping.

A heron decided to drop by also.

It is traditional in Shetland to drop in on your neighbours for a tea and chat on occasion. I have yet to do this but one of my neighbours in particular, has invited me more than once to stop in. Building up my nerve.

Last night I was brought to tears by the Northern Lights that danced above the hills across the voe and shooting stars in the sky above the house. No photos. Some dancing. I love nature.
