It was ridiculously warm for January. It started out around 10C and only dropped to about 7C. With sunrise close to 9am and sunset around 4pm, it is best to take advantage of what daylight you have. The walk was just west of Loch Lochy near the River Arkaig, walking up the Glenn Cia-aig. It started with a lovely multiple pitch waterfall. Unfortunately some of the trees around the path had recently been logged, leaving a mess of branches along the trail for the first wee bit.
Following the water running at the base of the glen, you come upon a lovely path that winds amongst some tree groves then close to the water. There are lovely waterfalls both in the glen and spilling from the surrounding hills.
I made it to where another glen meets this one, enjoyed a bite to eat, and made my way back. The rain came as I walked back. Usually I relish the rain's effect of silencing all noise around. It had been so quiet throughout this walk that the rain sounded loud and seemed to awaken the place. I have always loved walking in the rain. Now I am a little more sensitive to the cold but when I am prepared, it is a joy.
I have some regret that my tripod is packed in storage at the moment. It would have been nice with the low light.
Lovely day and ended it with warm feet. Looking forward to many more days in the fresh air.
